Sidi Ifni hotels: town or coast
Most Sidi Ifni hotels and rooms are in the town itself, a former Spanish enclave that returned to Morocco in 1969. The quarter of Elgata sits close to the beach and offers rooms as well as studios with a kitchen. Beyond the town, the coast brings other choices: Legzira to the north, then Mirleft, and further on Aglou near Tiznit.
This page compares the areas, because the right base depends on what you came for. If you plan day trips, read the tours page first.

Sidi Ifni town and the Elgata quarter
Rooms, studios and the old center.
Near the beach
Elgata is the quarter closest to the beach. It has rooms and studios with a kitchen, which suits longer stays and self-catering. Check the exact location of a place before you book, since a map pin is a better guide than a district name.
In the historic center
The former consulate building, the cinema and the town hall stand in the historic center, and the town also has a lighthouse and Art Deco facades. Spain held the town from 1934 until 1969. You see these buildings from the outside, and you should not count on visiting their interiors. The Legzira page covers the beach north of town.
Arriving late
If your coach reaches town in the evening, send the host a message with your arrival time. The getting there page lists the departures and the travel time from Agadir.
Along the coast: Legzira, Mirleft and Aglou
Mirleft is a coastal town south of Tiznit, with bays and a Monday market. Surf schools there offer lessons and hire boards, and the Mirleft page covers the beaches. Legzira lies between Mirleft and Sidi Ifni. The way down to the sand is steep, and the passages at the foot of the cliffs can be cut off at high tide, so Legzira suits a visit better than a base.
Aglou has a central beach with a corniche, dunes and cliffs. Some of its simple lodgings are former fishermen's caves. Check what is on offer now, how it is built and how you get there, and avoid remote coastal tracks in a rental car.
