Tiznit at a glance
Tiznit is a fortified old town in southern Morocco, known for its silver jewellery. The medina lies behind a long wall, and two places help you find your way: the Place du Mechouar and the gate called Bab Oulad Jerrar. The town is a natural stop between Agadir and the coast around Mirleft and Sidi Ifni.
If you do not want to drive yourself, a day trip from Agadir that combines Tiznit and Legzira is the simplest way to see it. A day trip costs €65 for adults and €30 for children aged 1 to 15 in 2026. The details are in the table below.

The medina and the town wall
Tiznit is a walled town, and the wall is the main thing to see. Dates for the wall range from the 19th century back to the 11th, so treat any date as approximate. For a visit it makes little difference. Walk along it, then enter through one of the gates and move toward the Place du Mechouar.
Opening hours of shops and the souk vary, so ask locally and take the day at an easy pace. Bring cash in dirhams, because small shops may take only cash.

The silver souk and market day
Tiznit is known for silver jewellery.
The jewellers' souk
Silver is sold in a traditional jewellers' souk, along the Rue Imzilne and in a newer silver souk. Walk through both before you buy anything, because pieces and prices differ from shop to shop.
Thursday market
Thursday is the usual weekly market day. Do not treat it as the only day the jewellery shops open, and check the current day locally before you build a plan around it.
Buying silver
Do not assume a piece is solid silver. Ask what it is made of, compare two or three shops, and agree the price before you pay.
Combine Tiznit with the coast
From Tiznit, the coast is close. Aglou beach is about 20 minutes by car, and the Mirleft page covers the bays further south. Legzira, with its red cliffs and a rock arch, is described on the Legzira page. For the road from the airport, see getting there from Agadir.
If you are building a longer route, Agadir excursions lists what else you can add from the city.
