Mirleft at a glance

Mirleft is a coastal town south of Tiznit with several bays and sandy beaches below brown cliffs. It sits on the coast road between Tiznit and Sidi Ifni, so most visitors pass through it or stop for a few nights. Legzira lies further south, between Mirleft and Sidi Ifni.

People come for the beaches, the surf and the slow pace of the coast. If you only have a day, you can combine it with day trips from Agadir along the southern coast, or drive it yourself. A day trip that lists Legzira and Tiznit does not automatically stop in Mirleft, so check the itinerary.

Mirleft beaches and the town centre

The coast around Mirleft is cut into bays. Three Mirleft beaches known to surfers are Sidi El Ouafi, Tamahroucht and Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah. They are beach breaks, and wind decides how good they are on a given day. Do not assume that every cove has easy access, guards or facilities. Look at the beach and the sea before you swim and read the beach safety page first.

The town centre has blue and white arcades along a paved pedestrian street. Monday is the usual souk day, so check the current market day locally before you plan around it.

Aglou: the beach near Tiznit

Aglou is a small coastal village with a central beach and a corniche, framed by dunes and cliffs. It is about 20 minutes by car from Tiznit, which makes it an easy add-on to a Tiznit day. Do not assume that the coastal tracks around it are easy to drive. Stay on the main roads unless a local advises otherwise.

Aglou also has simple accommodation in former fishermen's caves, some of them converted for guests. Ask about availability, comfort and safety directly before you plan to stay in one.

Surf lessons and a base on the coast

Mirleft has surf schools that offer lessons. A group lesson costs about €30 per person in one example from 2026, with equipment and the transfer to the spot included. Prices, seasons and levels are on the Morocco surf page.

For a bed, Mirleft and the beach quarters of Sidi Ifni are the usual choices. The hotels page shows where to stay in town and on the coast. If you fly in, Sidi Ifni is roughly 150 km and 2½ hours by car from Agadir Al Massira airport, and the coast road has narrower sections, so avoid driving it at night. The getting there page covers buses and taxis. For the airport itself, see the Agadir airport guide.

How long to stay on this coast

Three simple ways to fit Mirleft into a trip.

One day

Drive the N1 from Agadir to Tiznit, which is 85 to 95 km depending on the route, then turn to the coast. Spend the morning in the old town, an hour at Aglou beach and the afternoon in Mirleft. Leave enough time for the drive back in daylight.

Two or three nights

Stay in Mirleft, take a surf lesson, and visit Legzira on a separate half day. Access to the beach foot depends on the tide, so read the Legzira page before you set a time.

A week

Split the stay between Mirleft and Sidi Ifni. Add Guelmim, about 50 km from Sidi Ifni, for the market town and the edge of the desert. The Guelmim guide explains the options.
